YOUR ROOF · YOUR CONSUMPTION · THE RIGHT FIT

Solar panel installation on your roof or land

A good solar installation starts with the right location and a considered design. We help you choose a solution for your building, property and electricity use, with a compatible inverter and optional battery storage.

FIND THE RIGHT PLACE FOR YOUR PANELS

Three mounting options, one considered solution

The choice depends on available space, roof condition, shading and technical constraints. No single mounting method is best for every property.

01

Pitched roof

Use your existing roof space

Panels usually follow the roof slope. Fixings are selected for the roof covering and supporting structure, and penetrations must be detailed to keep the roof watertight.

  • Metal, tiled and other suitable roofs
  • Roof condition and fixing locations
  • Layout around chimneys, windows and shading

Flat roof

A planned layout for a larger area

Panel orientation and tilt are chosen for the building and generation goals. Ballasted or mechanically fixed systems need a site-specific assessment.

  • Roof capacity, wind and snow loads
  • Drainage and access for maintenance
  • A mounting system suited to the roof covering

Ground mounting

An option when the roof is unsuitable

Suitable land can give more freedom to choose panel position and orientation. Soil, shading, cable routes and other uses of the property must also be considered.

  • Foundations or fixings suited to the soil

BEFORE CHOOSING THE FIXINGS

Is your roof suitable for solar panels?

The name of the roof covering is only a starting point. The roof and the electrical system need to be considered together.

We use roof-appropriate mounting solutions, including K2 Systems. The specific system and its terms are confirmed in your quote.

Roof condition

If roof repairs are planned soon, agree the sequence of work before fitting panels.

Capacity and fixings

The structure and mounting method must suit the building and local loads. A structural engineer may be needed.

Sun and shade

Orientation, slope and shading affect generation. Compare suitable layouts, rather than panel count alone.

Electrical connection and consumption

System size, inverter, cabling and an optional battery are chosen around your use and connection capacity.

FROM FIRST ENQUIRY TO HANDOVER

How does solar panel installation work?

01

Initial information

Send the property address, annual electricity use and, if available, photos or roof plans. You do not need every technical detail at the start.

02

Design and quote

We clarify the layout, equipment, mounting, electrical work and documentation scope. Required approvals are assessed for the property.

03

Installation and connection

We carry out the agreed mounting, panel and electrical work. Scheduling depends on project size, weather and site readiness.

04

Checks and handover

We check the system and provide the agreed documents and operating guidance. Monitoring and maintenance requirements are discussed too.

KNOW WHAT YOU ARE COMPARING

What affects the cost of solar panel installation?

Two systems with the same panel capacity can require different amounts of work. Compare complete quotes and the scope each one includes.

PLAN IT TOGETHER WITH YOUR PANELS

Would you also like battery storage?

If storage is planned now or later, consider it when selecting the inverter and electrical design. Battery capacity, charging and discharging power, and the timing of your consumption all matter.

Backup power requires a separate compatible technical solution. A battery alone does not guarantee it.

Installation questions

Explore solar PV maintenance
Can solar panels be fitted to any roof?

Not always. Suitability depends on roof condition, structure, covering and safe fixing options. If the roof is unsuitable, ground mounting can be assessed.

Does the roof have to face south?

No. An east- or west-facing layout can also be suitable. The choice depends on shading, available roof area and when you use electricity. Generation estimates can help compare options.

Does flat-roof installation require roof penetrations?

It depends on the mounting system and building. Ballast may suit some properties, while others require fixings. Roof capacity, covering and loads must be assessed before selecting the design.

How long does installation take?

Timing depends on system size, location and electrical work. Design, approvals and equipment delivery may take place before installation. The project schedule is agreed with the quote.

Can a battery be added later?

That depends on inverter and battery compatibility and the electrical system. Tell us about future storage plans when selecting your solar installation.

What do I need to request a quote?

Start with the property address, contact details and annual electricity use. Add roof or land photos if available, and say whether you would like a battery. We can clarify the rest together.
